The 200 CLUB
The 200 Club is the Society's fund raising project in which 200 people, chiefly from the village, agreed to pay £20 once a year. Each is allocated a number, and, once a month, a draw is made for three prizes. These are for £40, £30 and £20 – so even the third prize winner gets their subscription back! Some folk win more than once in a year, others not at all, despite their being 36 prizes each year. Well, it is a lottery and it's the luck of the draw!
The draw usually takes place in the local pub, the Globe. The 200 hundred numbered tiles, representing the Club members, are placed in a canvas bag, and the organiser invites people in the pub (not a club member) to remove a tile; two more are then drawn by others, and the results recorded. The prizes are then delivered by hand to that month's winners.

In the years since the club was established, it has provided essential basic funding for the provision of
- New, stackable chairs housed on trolleys
- A ceiling mounted video projector and a 3 metre screen. Combined with the existing sound system, the facility is used for a monthly Cinema Club, and for the projection of images to accompany visiting speakers, for example to the History Society
- New stage curtains and window light-proof blinds, to darken the Hall as needed
- New lighting in the main hall
